DIALEKTIKA KUNINGAN — As Ramadan begins, local governments are keeping a close watch on food prices, wary of sudden spikes. The Kuningan Regency administration in West Java is no exception.

On Tuesday (February 24, 2026), Bupati Kuningan Dr. H. Dian Rachmat Yanuar, M.Si., personally led the Special Ramadan Gerakan Pangan Murah under the banner of GPM DIRAHMATI in Haurkuning Village, Nusaherang District.

The GPM DIRAHMATI program was designed as a preventive step to maintain price stability and protect consumers’ purchasing power throughout Ramadan and leading up to Eid al-Fitr.

During the event, Bupati Kuningan directly monitored the distribution of essential goods, compared prices with those in regular markets, and spoke with residents who had been lining up since early morning.

He stressed that food price stability cannot wait for turbulence to happen. The government, he said, must act early before prices spiral out of control.

Accompanied by the Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Agency (Diskatan) of Kuningan Regency, Dr. Wahyu Hidayah, M.Si., he ensured that all commodities were sold below prevailing market prices.

The intervention, officials said, was carefully calculated to keep goods affordable without disrupting supply chains or harming local traders.

A substantial volume of staple goods was prepared for the program. Supplies included 3 tons of premium rice, 300 liters of cooking oil, 200 kilograms of sugar, and 250 kilograms each of beef and chicken eggs.

In addition, 150 kilograms of fresh and processed chicken, 300 kilograms of Minyakita, 200 kilograms of flour, and 100 kilograms each of shallots and garlic were offered.

Various types of chili peppers totaling 25 kilograms and 100 kilograms of vegetables were also sold at special prices.

Wahyu explained that the intervention scheme was based on local demand mapping and projections of potential price pressures. It was not a routine market operation, but a targeted response.

He emphasized that while protecting consumers’ purchasing power is essential, maintaining market balance is equally important to ensure farmers and businesses are not adversely affected.

Residents crowded the venue from early morning, with several commodities selling out quickly, reflecting strong demand during the fasting month.

The GPM DIRAHMATI initiative is scheduled to continue at multiple locations through the Eid al-Fitr 2026 period. The Kuningan Regency administration has made food price stability a key part of its broader strategy to safeguard regional economic resilience during major religious holidays.***
